THE PRIVATE SECTOR OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MANUFAHI

BEGAN TO INVEST IN KONJAC PRODUCTION

 The Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Augusto Júnior Trindade, together with the Municipal Authority of Manufahi Luis Marxal da Costa Tavares, and the owner of Manufahi Lui Unipessoal Lda. Francisco Lui Aquilio, launched the production of Konjac in Manufahi, 05 / 08.

 

The Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Augusto Júnior Trindade, said that the IX  constitutional government's commitment to increase the diversification of the economy within the country is in the agricultural sector as a Konjac that has been planted and dried to export abroad.

"The well-classified industry in Timor-Leste today is able to absorb local products, especially Konjac, we know that this country is a very organic land potential in agriculture, and therefore the government will make the disclosure of information to the community to plant Konjac and compare it to export abroad," said VMCI.

VMCI also thanked Manufahi Lui Unipessoal Lda. for their commitment to investing in the productive sector.

"We know that the productive sector is not only oil but that organic agricultural products can replace other products,"

 

Owner of Manufahi Lui Unipessoal Lda. Francisco Lui Aquilio thanked MCI through VMCI for visiting the Konjac production site, motivating the comparator to continue Konjac production so that it can be exported abroad.

"We are the one who invited VMCI to visit our site to motivate communities to plant Konjac, as the company prepared to collect Konjac in the territory for production and export abroad," said the owner.

Manufahi Lui Unipessoal Lda, has an international partner from China "Wuhan," to export Konjac from Timor-Leste to China.

Previously the company had already produced but stopped for the year, due to the Covid-19 situation, so it continued to export abroad.

The production process is as follows, the company buys raw konjac directly from the community, at a price per kilo of $0.20 and the company does the cutting and drying process using machines.
